You Can Now Schedule Auto Terms in TaxoPress
TaxoPress 3.28 is available now. The Free version is available on WordPress.org and TaxoPress members can download the Pro version from this website.
We’re in December, so this will be our last big feature release of 2024. This release brings several big improvements. The biggest new features is for TaxoPress Pro users: an improved “Schedule” screen. This feature is designed to help people add taxonomy terms to imported content.

The new “Schedule” screen
Auto Terms is a TaxoPress feature that automatically adds relevant terms to posts. Some TaxoPress users rely on Auto Terms to add terms to posts that are imported. Here are some typical requests:
- “I’m importing posts via the WordPress API and the auto-tagging is not processing on those posts. Can I set this up using a cron job?”
- “How can I add terms when I insert the products in WooCommerce through the API?”
This is possible with the new “Schedule” feature.

The “Schedule” feature will create a cron event in your site. You can see these events using a plugin such as “WP Crontrol”. This screenshot below shows both cron events that are possible with TaxoPress:

On the “Schedule” screen you will be able to see recent results produced by these cron jobs. You can see all the results by visiting the Auto Terms Logs screen.

Improved Admin Taxonomy Filters
Admin Taxonomy Filters allow you filter posts in your WordPress dashboard. You can see an example of this feature on a normal WordPress site. In this screenshot below, you can see a filter for the “Categories” taxonomy. In the WordPress core this feature doesn’t support custom taxonomies or expand to large numbers of terms.

Once you’ve enabled the new Filter settings in TaxoPress, go to the “Posts” screen and you can now see the a filter for this taxonomy. This improves on the default WordPress core by offering a search box that can scale to support 1,000’s of terms.
